Online Marketing Blog: Groundswell Interview with Charlene Li

Charlene, I really focussed in on what you say to identify the activities of the older and senior Boomers: only 8% and 5% are actively creating blogs. Well, this is very interesting, a very small percentage when you consider these age groups have more experience to write about, more time to write and possibly more contacts. Firstly, what age groups do you truly believe are out there creatively blogging, and secondly, how can we in marketing zone in on these older and senior bloggers for profit potential?

I mean, you say these are readers of blogs, so might it not make good marketing sense to actively promote goods and services to these Boomers through the dynamic new medium of blogging?

This really sparks off a new wave of thought for me, in that I should be aware of the age-groups I am promoting to, who my readers really are, and also both how to attract the Boomers as keen readers and what to market to them!

I do believe blogging is quickly opening up huge new fronts of potential for small, medium and large companies to actively promote their products through the relaxed and therefore very powerful medium of blogging. This will be my main area of focus in the coming months. Thankyou for highlighting this as yet almost untapped goldmine online!

    Wow. A thought provoking article.

What are governmental agencies doing about the groundswell?

I looked at the video by Bob Parsons at Godaddy.com on what to tell the pope about the Internet. It was quite good. I wish I had a team to help me do video that good for my blog.

I write a blog for boomer consumers called The Survive and Thrive Boomer Guide at http://boomersurvive-thriveguide.typepad.com.
