Online Marketing Blog: Use A Creative Commons License As An Online Marketing Tool

Good post. I just have one question, where exactly do you edit the attribution requirements on Flickr?

Thank you for sharing this important information with us. I for one will look into this. It is important to give credit where credit is due. I totally agree with you that professionals and those who’ve worked hard to build their reputation online will agree to the terms and this is what we want to encourage in this kind of platform – professionalism.

This is a very nice post. I especially enjoyed your use of the phrase whack-a-mole as it is usually relegating to use of defining carnivals.

There is one big factor you referenced in the post I think needs more attention. As Mike Seyfang wrote "What I do crave is recognition (not fame)."

For the concept of CC and free to be successful, the producer of work must recognize the value of building recognition and (ultimately) gaining respect over fame and fortune.

    Thoughts?

I second custodio's question, how can we edit the attribution license on flickr? Doesn't seem like there's an option to upload our own CC license. Are we missing something?

Remember, the license states that "you must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor" - so define specifically under the photos, in bold how you would like your attribution done.

You can also register a page for your material external of the default Flickr page to get a custom link there directly to your content. Go here to start: http://creativecommons.org/license/

"so define specifically under the photos, in bold how you would like your attribution done."

But where did you get the 2 snapshots that you show?

    http://www.toprankblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2...

    and

    http://www.toprankblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2...

When I visit the flickr page where the image is from:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/ectopsyche/3461322...

There is no link that show a prefilled textbox with the Attribution already filled in. When I click on this link:
"This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0. " it takes me here:

    http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en

without any prefilled information about details of Attribution or where to link to.
